While I was in Argentina for the week, a team from our Action Church family was here in Peru! They spent time ministering in Cusco—visiting orphanages, feeding the homeless, and praying with the youth at a local church.

Fortunately, on their way back home to the US, they spent their final two days in Lima so we could hang out with them. We are so thankful for their love, support, and partnership with Caminodevida, but above all, we’re grateful for their genuine friendship. We got to worship together at CDV, grab some amazing coffee, and spend great quality time with our girls. We all had such a blas

No pun intended, but a couple of weeks ago we wrapped up our Genesis Bible study group. It was such a great time gathering with these amazing friends who, over time, have truly come to feel like family. Opening our home for a small group is always a bit of a stretch for our family, but we love it so much. When God created the world, He first created spaces and then filled them with life and purpose. The same thing happens whenever we make room for community and faith to thrive—it’s so vital to make space for real life to take place. We’ve seen God work in so many hearts through open conversations, studying Scripture, prayer, and plenty of laughter. We’re so thankful we get to do this, and we can’t wait for the next study to start!

Haciendo Iglesia ("Let’s Do Church") is a ministry within Caminodevida through which we answer the call to strengthen pastors and church leaders across Latin America. Through cohorts, we share practical principles that help churches keep growing—because healthy things grow, and we believe the Church is the hope of the world.

This time, we had a fantastic time partnering with Action Church from Orlando, Florida. I (Stalin) got to translate for Pastor Justin Dailey and his wife Gaby, while spending great time with Pastors Tyler and Kelly as we served across two cities: Buenos Aires and Rosario.

In the picture above, Pastor Taylor Barriger and Pastor Justin are speaking with a pastor who traveled all the way from Tierra del Fuego to Rosario—a journey of roughly 1,600 miles (about 4 hours by plane or 40 hours of driving!). He is just one of many humble, dedicated pastors eager to receive a fresh perspective and see their local churches grow healthy and strong.

Last weekend, we had a refreshing and amazing time at a marriage retreat for pastors and ministers, hosted by Daniel and Stephanie Gutierrez and Footrock Ministry. It was wonderful to be with friends from other ministries, as well as several who are part of CDV.

The retreat gave us a beautiful opportunity to reconnect as a couple and envision what is ahead for us. We shared some truly special moments with older couples who are absolute ministry legends here in Peru. Hearing their stories—and seeing the wonders God has done in and through them—was incredibly encouraging and did so much to strengthen our faith.

Over the last three years, our family has experienced a quiet revival in how we read and meditate on Scripture. We’ve started a journey of reading the Bible with completely new eyes—especially the book of Genesis.

We don’t claim to be experts on this book. But what we have experienced is something we want everyone to have the opportunity to walk through: to read Scripture on its own terms, and in that process, be surprised by the love, hope, and power of God’s story.

This past Thursday, we kicked off this small group for the third time. We couldn’t be more excited, especially because we know what the Spirit has done here before. We have watched people grow more grounded in their faith and deeply connected to the church family. Getting messages from past members completely fills our tanks. This is exactly what we live for.
